Abstract
In this paper some peculiar traits of courtly life in Islam will be examined, with a special focus on the Arab context. Besides, some volumes edited in the last decade will be discussed that investigate Islamic court and its society on the wake of Norbert Elias’ and his disciples’ studies. Among the latter, Jeoren Duindam emerged as one of the most active advocates of this new trend, and he greatly concentrated on power, authority, and the court in Eurasia. On the basis of the pivotal study carried out by Richard van Leeuwen in the field of Pre-Modern Eurasian literature (1300-1800), some lines of research concerning Modern and Contemporary Arabic literature will be suggested here.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
