The Newcomer Socialization Questionnaire (NSQ) is an interesting multi-level (organization, group, task) measure of the organizational socialization process. The present study is twofold. First, it aimed at extending previous findings on its validity by examining measurement invariance considering newcomers and full member employees. Second, it examined construct validity of the Italian version of the NSQ. A first study was conducted to test factorial structure and measurement invariance of the NSQ on two groups: 256 newcomers and 290 full members. Moreover, latent means comparison was performed as a further criterion for assessing construct validity. In a second study concurrent validity was assessed through the correlation between organizational socialization, job satisfaction, performance and work-family conflict on 386 employees. Evidence of full measurement invariance was found for the two NSQ subscales related to organization and task, whereas partial measurement invariance was determined for the subscale related to the group. Findings extended previous validation’s evidence indicating that comparison between newcomers and full members on group socialization should be interpreted with caution. Moreover, evidence supported construct validity of the Italian version of the NSQ, which could be adopted in Italy for research and practical purpose. Limitations and suggestion for further research are discussed.

Abstract
Limitations and suggestion for further research are discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
