This study presents TUNE (Tool for Underwater Noise Evaluation), a standalone MATLAB-based application designed to provide standardized, reproducible, and calibrated underwater noise analysis. The tool processes acoustic data in wav format and computes broadband, decidecade-band and zero-to-peak sound pressure levels, as well as power spectral density. By analysing a real underwater noise recording, we demonstrate the innovative aspects of TUNE, including its ease of use, computational efficiency, and suitability to address Marine Strategy Framework Directive requirements. By making TUNE open source, we aim to provide a reliable, accessible, and free solution for underwater noise monitoring, supporting harmonization of methodologies across scientific and regulatory frameworks.

Abstract
This study presents TUNE (Tool for Underwater Noise Evaluation), a standalone MATLAB-based application designed to provide standardized, reproducible, and calibrated underwater noise analysis. The tool processes acoustic data in wav format and computes broadband, decidecade-band and zero-to-peak sound pressure levels, as well as power spectral density. By analysing a real underwater noise recording, we demonstrate the innovative aspects of TUNE, including its ease of use, computational efficiency, and suitability to address Marine Strategy Framework Directive requirements. By making TUNE open source, we aim to provide a reliable, accessible, and free solution for underwater noise monitoring, supporting harmonization of methodologies across scientific and regulatory frameworks.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
