The article aims at providing an overview of the administrative action in contemporary Russian law. The first part is devoted to conceptual and terminological aspects and reconstructs the various theories on administrative action that have so far been developed by Russian legal science. The article subsequently addresses the issue of the codification of administrative law, describing the attempts made to this end in Russia. Successively, the article focuses on the concept of an administrative act, outlining its essential characteristics under Russian law. The final part is dedicated to the thorny question of the discretion of public administration and the judicial review of discretionary administrative powers.
