Aging and population are increasingly confirmed to be a particularly topical issue, as highlighted by the World Health Organization and the United Nations, and not only for internal areas, “peripheral” territories with a demographic scenario often marked by depopulation and aging, for which interesting initiatives developed by SNAI are emerging. Peculiar is the case of the Campania province of Caserta, which presents three sides of a coin. In this paper, we focus on its demographic structure and evolution since 1971, observing, in particular: the distribution and concentration of the population in each area of the province, birth rate and fertility, old age and median age indices, and migration balance. It also investigates the foreign population, its distribution and the influence on the demographic structure and the population and aging process. Through a descriptive look at the temporal and spatial evolution of the main demographic indicators, also reasoning by centers and inland areas, it is possible to intercept and decode the complexity of territorial scenarios, but also to identify governance initiatives.

Abstract
Through a descriptive look at the temporal and spatial evolution of the main demographic indicators, also reasoning by centers and inland areas, it is possible to intercept and decode the complexity of territorial scenarios, but also to identify governance initiatives.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
