The article discusses the erroneous transcription of the verb optinere in the lex de viginti quaestoribus, in Carlo Sigonio’s De iure antiquo. This makes it possible to reconstruct the 16th-century manuscript tradition of the epigraphic text; at the same time offering an interpretative proposal of the abbreviation q. urb. in the first line of the table.
