Anthropocene, Sovereignty, and Integral Constitutionalism - This study investigates the implications of the Anthropocene thesis for legal studies, with a particular focus on global governance, sovereignty, and constitutionalism. In the Anthropocene man needs to refer to environmental issues through an interdisciplinary approach, challenging traditional legal and political frameworks and re-evaluating the relationship between human beings and nature. This implies rethinking constitutionalism, sovereignty, and the social contract, moving toward a new governance model that embodies the interconnections among all living beings. The study highlights the imperative for legal systems to embrace innovative perspectives, proposing a social contract for a new constitutionalism, defined as “integral constitutionalism”. This proposal aligns with the vision of Edgar Morin of integrating the individual, social and biological dimensions of human existence on Earth.
