The paper focuses on the presence of the word viator in Latin Poetry, starting from its first testimonies, up to Martial, passing through Augustan poetry. The investigation aims at following a predominantly lexical path between Late Republic and Early Imperial Age, in order to highlight not only the cross-cutting nature of the occurrences of the word in different literary genres, but above all the peculiar characterization and specific poetic function that the term assumes in the authors taken into account.
