Cities in emergencies: the scientific contribution of Design for a new educational paradigm

What is the role of Design in a time of war and wars? And how does the training of designers change? The emergency period has taught us that we need to new teaching habits in which words/matter can be translated into virtuous civil actions: self-responsibility, trust, solidarity, interconnection, transparency, awareness, civic sense, patience, care, kindness, passion, reciprocity. It is therefore necessary for design education/training to be a constant hybridization between Teaching and Research in a continuous pedagogical experimentation with a holistic, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary approach to "urgent" themes. The LANDesign Applied Research Laboratory is the place of this hybridization; “Tandem design” is a new modus operandi, an innovative teaching.
