As of today, China stands as a major trade, economic, and financial power that does not hesitate to use its relevance and resources to also pursue its geopolitical and strategic goals through carefully considered investment and trade policies. It is in this context that the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road were born as integral branches of Xi Jinping’s ambitious infrastructure project known as the Belt and Road Initiative and meant to improve Eurasian connectivity. As Europe is an important trading partner for China and conceivably one of the main destinations of the BRI, this paper is aimed at analysing the current status of Sino-European cooperation, paying particular attention to the geopolitical dynamics at play in the Eurasian region that, in the spirit of the BRI, acts as a bridge between the two players.

Abstract
As of today, China stands as a major trade, economic, and financial power that does not hesitate to use its relevance and resources to also pursue its geopolitical and strategic goals through carefully considered investment and trade policies. It is in this context that the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road were born as integral branches of Xi Jinping’s ambitious infrastructure project known as the Belt and Road Initiative and meant to improve Eurasian connectivity. As Europe is an important trading partner for China and conceivably one of the main destinations of the BRI, this paper is aimed at analysing the current status of Sino-European cooperation, paying particular attention to the geopolitical dynamics at play in the Eurasian region that, in the spirit of the BRI, acts as a bridge between the two players.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
