The research aims to offer a comprehensive perspective on the degeneration of international relations between Maduro’s Venezuela and the European Union during theemergency due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The health crisis undoubtedly contributed towidening the already existing rift between the EU institutions and the government in Caracas, which was generated following the 2018 Venezuelan presidential elections and thesubsequent recognition of Juan Guaidó by most member states. The measures implementedby the Bolivarian government during the health emergency pushed Venezuela even more tostrengthen its relations with countries such as Russia, Turkey, India, Cuba and China. Abstract

Thesestates have thus increased their influence in the country through material support and thesending of medical aid, where that of the Western democracies, relegated to the corner bythe bad relations with the Maduro administration, has decreased. Venezuela has thus founditself at the centre of Eurasian “health diplomacy”. By virtue of these events, the study offersan overview of the current state of relations between Caracas and the European Union, alsoproposing some possible suggestions on the development of future scenarios, especially following the advent of a new energy crisis that began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
