In this chapter, novel energy system management techniques for aeronautic and aerospace applications are presented. Light is shed on the innovative topic of the More Electric Aircraft (MEA) and its key elements. Specifically, the MEA concept envisages the use of electricity for all non-propulsion systems, i.e., the MEA concept defines the guidelines for high-density electric motors, power generation, and conversion systems. In the framework of the More Electric Aircraft, modeling and control of DC/DC converters represent challenging and interesting tasks that have attracted many researchers in the past couple of decades. A rigorous mathematical approach required to face these challenges is presented in this chapter. Moreover, several energy management strategies are described, and three use cases are presented: battery management in the case of resistive loads, battery management in the case of constant power loads, and supercapacitors control for generator peaks smoothing.
