The contribution aims to reconstruct the historical-institutional profile of the Real Conservatory of Nuestra Seῆora de la Soledad, an organization founded in 1589 with the vocation to welcome and educate the orphans of the Spanish soldiers stationed in Naples. From the consultation of the institution’s archive and from some complementary sources we can see an insight into the life of an institution that covers four centuries of history with a presence that is sometimes silent but tenacious and capable of overcoming problematic knots and events.
