The cult of Homónoia (= Concord) is attested from the IV century BCE as a reflection of the importance that the ideal of pacification between factions and póleis had in political debate at the end of the Peloponnesian War. This aspect has been extensively studied. However, moving from the early usage of the term which flanks and updates the oldest homophrosýne, we intend to explore an aspect that has been little considered so far, namely the psychological connotation of this concept. Several elements suggest that the term homónoia is a neologism created in the milieu of the Sophists to indicate the perfect agreement between the noetic and volitional components of each individual, a perfect agreement could be extended and applied to any relational sphere.

Abstract
The cult of Homónoia (= Concord) is attested from the IV century BCE as a reflection of the importance that the ideal of pacification between factions and póleis had in political debate at the end of the Peloponnesian War. This aspect has been extensively studied. However, moving from the early usage of the term which flanks and updates the oldest homophrosýne, we intend to explore an aspect that has been little considered so far, namely the psychological connotation of this concept. Several elements suggest that the term homónoia is a neologism created in the milieu of the Sophists to indicate the perfect agreement between the noetic and volitional components of each individual, a perfect agreement could be extended and applied to any relational sphere.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
