The European Green Deal and the European Climate Law of the European Parliament are the socio-political context in which the construction industry has to engage in order to reduce upfront carbon. This focus puts the role of building materials in a new perspective. By focusing on the development of innovative solutions that specifically address biotic and biobased materials, the Cradle-to-Cradle approach values bio-based materials and gives them a key role in the transition to the circular economy. The paper presents an innovative material, the complex outcome of two different research projects conducted by the ZEBtwdZEEB Group of the ‘L. Vanvitelli’ University of Campania in collaboration with the innovative start-up Service Biotech Srl, winner of the BioInItaly Investment Forum 2021 & Intesa Sanpaolo Start-Up Initiative for the Circular Bioeconomy sector.
Il Green Deal Europeo e l’European Climate Law del Parlamento Europeo sono il contesto socio-politico nel quale l’Industria delle Costruzioni deve impegnarsi per ridurre l’upfront carbon. Questo obiettivo pone in una nuova luce il ruolo dei materiali edili. Concentrandosi sullo sviluppo di soluzioni innovative che riguardano propriamente i materiali biotici e trasformati-biotici, l’approccio Cradle to Cradle premia i biobased materials attribuendo ad essi un ruolo fondamentale nella transizione verso l’economia circolare. Il contributo presenta un materiale innovativo, esito complesso di due diffe- renti progetti di ricerca condotti dal ZEBtwdZEEB Group dell’Università della Campania ‘L. Vanvitelli’ in collaborazione con la Start-up innovativa Service Biotech Srl, vinci- tore al BioInItaly Investment Forum 2021 & Intesa Sanpaolo Start-Up Initiative per il settore Circular Bioeconomy.
