L'Illuminismo inquieto di Sciascia

This short essay examines two opposing instances in Sciascia’s literary production: on the one hand, trust in the cognitive power of reason, typical of the Enlightenment, and, on the other, distrust in the possibility of getting to know the truth. In the light of these two matrices, some of Sciascia’s most important topics are thus analysed: the relationship between truth and justice and that between force and law. Finally, a scrutiny is made of the most significant literary sources on which Sciascia’s work is based.

Si indaga la presenza di due istanze opposte nella produzione letteraria di Sciascia: da un lato la fiducia nel potere conoscitivo della ragione tipica dell’illuminismo, dall’altro la sfiducia nella possibilità di conoscere la verità. Alla luce di queste due matrici vengono poi analizzati alcuni nodi dell’opera sciasciana: il rapporto tra verità e giustizia e quello tra forza e legge. Si passa infine a un’analisi delle fonti letterarie più significative di cui si nutre l’opera di Sciascia.
