Abstract
The restoration of historic gardens is a highly topical issue, both in relation to the ecological crisis gripping the planet and the need to identify new uses for a community of heritages that consciously enjoy no only their material value in terms of architecture and vegetation, but also their intangible value in terms of cultural heritage. An inheritance that, in addition to being protected, must be enhanced in order to be passed on intact and implemented to future generations with cognitive data deriving from researches. The centrality of man and his perception of the green cultural heritage requires the identification of nev uses that, while protecting the specific characteristics of architectural identity and vegetation, improve usability and knowledge. The issue of new uses should be clarified and addressed with greater attention to contemporary needs also in the Carta di Firenze in the paragraph dedicated to Usage. Restoration has a task of primary importance in identifying new categories of intervention that are capable of responding to the needs of new uses in order to satisfy the cognitive rituals of the twenty-first century community. The presented paper doesn't only identify the weak points of the Carta di Firenze 1981 on the theme of Use (from articles 18 to 22), but also illustrates the restoration project and the management plan for an area of the English Garden of the Royal Palace of Caserta that has been confronted with the theme of re-use for educational and popular purposes of the vegetation heritage present there. A project that goes beyond the simple restoration of the architectural pavilions and the connected vegetation areas, assigning new Junctions and uses in the awareness that the maintenance of the individual parts and of the various vegetation areas is closely linked to a use that conforms to the specific and historical identity characteristics of the cultural heritage identified.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
