The necropoleis of Bologna, explored during the 19th century, yielded a large amount of bronze vessel, the greatest part of the vases being included in banqueting services. An ongoing research of Bologna University is now dedicated to this large and varied corpus of finds, mostly unpublished. The conference offered the opportunity to illustrate some preliminary results of the project. The article deals with three main topics: an unavoidable short review of the evidence in order to show which shapes and variants are attested, with particular regard to banqueting bronzes, enhancing, as much as possible, stylistic and/or chronological aspects; an overview of the sets of bronze objects recognized and the role they played in the local funerary ritual; finally, some considerations on the workshops and the production centres are suggested.
