The campus Universitetsundervisningen in Aarhus was designed by K. Fisker, C.F. Møller and P. Stegmann, winners of the 1931 architecture competition, and by landscape architect C. Th. Sørensen. Since then, it has been preserving the consistency of the architectural language and the homogeneity of shapes. It lies mostly on a trapezoidal area and it is characterized by yellow-brick buildings spread out in a 580,000 m2 park. The plan was very innovative both because of such dispersed layout, based on the different functions of each building, and for its design pattern, which is a fluid integration of architecture and landscape, tradition and modernism. For this reasons Aarhus University is the most representative example of Danish Functionalism and in 2007 it was included in the Canon of Danish Art and Culture as one of the 12 most important architectural works. The essay investigates from a new critical point of view the Aarhus University’s long architectural evolution up to the present day.

Abstract
The essay investigates from a new critical point of view the Aarhus University’s long architectural evolution up to the present day.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
