The paper discusses the constitutional systems of South Asia, moving from the multicultural and multi-ethnic composition of society as a common feature. To start with, the subject of the research and the methodology are clarified. In the succeeding paragraphs the author illustrates the territorial dimension, the distribution of powers between the State and the territorial units, the structure and the stability of the various Constitutions. Then, the constitutional history and the form of government of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri-Lanka and Bhutan are examined, from a political, cultural and religious perspective. Lastly, the work considers the upcoming prospects of Asian constitutionalism underlying the relationship between the growing recognition of diversities in the Constitutions and the decrease of conflicts inside many of the States of this area.
