Urbanization is an on-going process inducing several impacts in terms both of waste production – including drosscapes (Berger, 2006), intended as by-products of urban growth, abandoned districts often concentrated in peri-urban areas – and of demand for new buildings and infrastructure. Based on a “regenerative city” approach (Newmann et al., 2017), going largely beyond the sustainability-based approach aimed to reduce the impact of human activities on natural resources, this paper will explore opportunities and barriers for regenerating, recycling and re-using particular typologies of wastes: from drosscapes to the increasing stock of dismissed/degraded buildings and infrastructures. The paper will test the proposed approach to a case study area: the Southern part of the Caserta Municipality, characterized by a dismissed landfill and numerous abandoned industrial buildings. This area represents indeed a paradigmatic example of peri-urban wastelands, largely widespread in the whole area of the Province of Caserta

Abstract
This area represents indeed a paradigmatic example of peri-urban wastelands, largely widespread in the whole area of the Province of CasertaI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
