In this article, aspects of the Senegalese migrations will be considered from a lingua-cultural perspective, within the fast evolving, vibrant scenario of contemporary population movement across borders and the need for multilingualism. The common trend for Senegalese migrants is to remain in the host country for long periods and form communities, such as the Senegalese community in Naples, which is the main topic of this study. The focus is on the acquisition of Italian as a second language, in the light of the Senegal multi-linguistic and cultural situation, and their interaction with the local population.
