From the Building Envelope to the Pertaining Spaces. Existing School Buildings as Performing Nodes of the Urban system. The future of urban agglomerations and their use of natural resources should be seriously considered, especially in light of the growth of urbanization forecasted for the coming years. To take action on urban land development in order to find an alternative to the model which has prevailed in the last century, any consolidation efforts must focus on sustainability. The challenge is this: can the city regulate itself environmentally, socially and economically? An interesting field of experimentation is the transformation interventions on existing school buildings. These interventions involve, from a design point of view, a number of innovative methodological aspects, aimed at introducing more creative approaches that are not closely related to quantitative standards but rather aimed at a better integration between the users, places of education and the urban context.
