OBJECTIVES. The aim of this study was to verify dento-skeletal changes produced by Twin Block (TB) treatment in growing patients with Class II malocclusions by mandibular retrusion, compared with untreated Class II subjects.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The data were derived from private practice records. A total of 12 patients treated with TB appliances were compared with 12 untreated controls. The two groups were matched for age and type of malocclusion.RESULTS. The t-test showed no statistically significant differences between patients and controls at To. The comparison between the two groups showed significant mean changes and the TB appliance appeared to have some effects on the skeletal sagittal intermaxillary and dental relationships.CONCLUSIONS. The TB appliance appeared to be effective in prepubertal patients with Class II malocclusion by mandibular retrusion.
