Alternanza scuola-lavoro: Un bilancio ad un anno dall’attuazione

This essay aims to analyse the way of functioning, the virtues and limitations of work related learning, as designed by the so-called Good School reform (2015). Due to the lack of statistical data, we apply critical reasoning and comparative analysis to show that work related learning is indeed able to increase employability through two main channels: first, it raises the human capital level of recipients by providing general work-related competences; second, it enlarges the network among whom to seek work once entering the labor market. Nonetheless, it does not provide job-specific work experience, which requires a long time span. Still much remains to be done to involve firms, especially in the Mezzogiorno, where they are less numerous, and win the cultural resistence of many stakeholders.
