Abstract

The capability of making sensor infrastructures accessible by authorised users is a desirable property in many application scenarios. The integration of sensors into the cloud enables users to easily search, access, process and share large amounts of sensor data from different applications. Most of the current solutions model sensor networks as a part of an infrastructure offered as a service and managed by means of cloud tools that provide resource virtualisation. In this paper, we model sensor networks as providers offering their resources to cloud users who can negotiate the desired requirements in terms of operational parameters and non-functional features. We propose an SLA-based approach for the specification and management of the usage term guarantees related to the access and configuration of private sensor networks. Furthermore, we illustrate the design of a cloud sensing brokering platform to demonstrate the proposed integration of cloud and sensor networks.
