Abnormalities in thyroid function have been reported in adults with renal failure. Few data are available for uremic children and, in general, they are similar to data obtained in adults, although conflicting results on FT4have been reported. Variations in data may reflect differences in patient selection, differing ages and degrees of renal function of patients, and on different forms of dialysis, as well as laboratory methods. The objectives of this study were to assess thyroid function in uremic children with varying degrees of renal impairment and receiving different replacement therapies; to use accurate measurements of FT4; and to use age-related normal data.

Abstract
Abnormalities in thyroid function have been reported in adults with renal failure. Few data are available for uremic children and, in general, they are similar to data obtained in adults, although conflicting results on FT4have been reported. Variations in data may reflect differences in patient selection, differing ages and degrees of renal function of patients, and on different forms of dialysis, as well as laboratory methods. The objectives of this study were to assess thyroid function in uremic children with varying degrees of renal impairment and receiving different replacement therapies; to use accurate measurements of FT4; and to use age-related normal data.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
