This study analyses the binding of the herbicide diuron with the representative soils from Campania country (Italy) and humic acids (HAs). The sorption isotherms for the soils were non-linear and analysis of data by Langmuir model using Scatchard-like plots gave the maximum of adsorptive, the microscopic and macrospic equilibrium binding constants. The values of the macroscopic constant, normalised by the organic carbon, were independent of the sou type: K = 373, ΔG303° = - 15 kJ mol-1. The binding with the dissolved HAs involved a partitioning-like mechanism: K = 299, ΔG303° = - 14 kJ mol-1 for the transfer to the "HAs phase" from water.

Abstract
This study analyses the binding of the herbicide diuron with the representative soils from Campania country (Italy) and humic acids (HAs). The sorption isotherms for the soils were non-linear and analysis of data by Langmuir model using Scatchard-like plots gave the maximum of adsorptive, the microscopic and macrospic equilibrium binding constants. The values of the macroscopic constant, normalised by the organic carbon, were independent of the sou type: K = 373, ΔG303° = - 15 kJ mol-1. The binding with the dissolved HAs involved a partitioning-like mechanism: K = 299, ΔG303° = - 14 kJ mol-1 for the transfer to the "HAs phase" from water.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
