Background. Edematous-fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (EFP, so called “cellulitis”) is a localized adiposity with oedema, sclerosis and lipodistrophy. It includes two clinical forms: the “flabby” and the “compact”. It is a physiological answer to a circulatory defect or to the compression of the vases. The objective, ultrasond and thermographic signs can differentiate the EFP in the five stages with progressive clinical importance. Objective. We described the correlation among postures of the patients during several occupational activities, the appearance and the clinical importance of the EFP. Methods. The 120 patients, aged 30-42 years, with EFP, were divided in 4 groups in relation to the daily time of occupational sedentary posture. The diagnosis and the clinical gravity of the EFP was valued with the visual score and the ultrasound test (US). Are also performed analytic studies. Results. IPL with IV stage is present in 30% of patients and the 50% of these ones exercise a sedentary activity, while the I stage is present in 20% of the patients and no ones of these exercise a sedentary activity. Conclusions. Results show a progressive increase in percentage of the patients with IV stage EFP from the dynamic occupations to sedentary occupations. Results also show the time of sedentary occupational posture is a factor in the onset of the EFP.

Abstract
