L’INDUSTRIA AERONAUTICA IN CAMPANIA: ARCHEOLOGIA INDUSTRIALE E STORIA ECONOMICA

Campania preserves an extraordinarily important heritage in the aviation industry, consolidated through the entrepreneurial initiatives of IAM, IMAM, Aerfer, and Partenavia. Since the early decades of the 20th century, these companies have created hangars, factories, and laboratories in centers of technological excellence, having a decisive impact on the economic and cultural growth of southern Italy. In a similar direction, the aim of this research is to initiate a process of recovering the memory of the Campania aviation industry, including the preservation and accessibility of documents and testimonies, as well as the creation of exhibitions at surviving sites and collaboration with research centers in the area, in order to strengthen the link between the territory and its historical tradition in the aviation industry. The study has made it possible to reconstruct the main stages of aviation in Campania.
