From the comparison between the Livian account of the Bacchanalia and of the epigraphic text known by the bronce of Tiriolo (CIL I2581) it’s possible to reconstruct palingenetically the sequences of this affair and specifically the content of at least six senatorial decrees and three consular edicts. To these acts it’s possible to add the epistula that communicated the senatorial and consular decisions transmitted as excerpt in the inscription of Tiriolo and there connected to each other through intertextual references.

Abstract

From the comparison between the Livian account of the Bacchanalia and of the epigraphic text known by the bronce of Tiriolo (CIL I2581) it’s possible to reconstruct palingenetically the sequences of this affair and specifically the content of at least six senatorial decrees and three consular edicts. To these acts it’s possible to add the epistula that communicated the senatorial and consular decisions transmitted as excerpt in the inscription of Tiriolo and there connected to each other through intertextual references.
