Abstract

The University, actively engaged in the "Third Mission," promotes socio-economic and environmentally conscious growth through the dissemination of knowledge. By actively involving stakeholders, participatory design generates tangible results, positively influencing the territory and social dynamics. The enhancement of inland villages emerges as a promising prospect, with the Participatory Workshop approach facilitating the generation of ideas and targeted solutions. One example is the Workshop "Enhancement and Recovery of the Castle Complex" conducted by DICEA and CITTAM of the University of Naples Federico II in collaboration with the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”, Pro Castello Association, the Italian Castles Institute Campania section, involving associations and institutes. Students, supported by citizens and experts, analyzed the Castello di Forino village, designing sustainable and regenerative solutions to preserve history, culture and nature. Interaction with stakeholders and historical memory inspired new visions for shaping the future of this area.
