Cambiamento climatico, conoscenza e progetto: obiettivi, metodi e strumenti

Climate change-induced impacts have reached such evidence that their prevention and mitigation can no longer be considered a marginal issue, mainly for cultural heritage which, in this context, assumes a double value. On the one hand, it embodies the recipient of strategies and actions aimed at increasing its resilience on the other, with art and culture, it is attributed the decisive role of driver of behaviours and attitudes based on a multidimensional vision of sustainability, thus becoming a central element for effectively implementing ecological transition policies. Yet, despite that, there is still a persistent gap between the richness of the competent theoretical apparatus and the widespread problematic nature of its concrete translation. Difficulties, for instance, concern the need to prepare effective projects and knowledge datasets able to integrate qualitative and quantitative approaches, estimating risks and multidimensional impacts in an integrated way, according to different time scales. To respond to these requests, together with the literature review, the paper examined the results of congener research projects, funded at European level in the last five years aimed at cultural heritage, detecting purposes, processes, and tools that, in a shared way, must today connote the competent gnoseological apparatus.
