The theme of the cultural heritage of Made in Italy is declined in this research on rural buildings, those minor architectures spread on our regional territories, in order to strengthen the territorial identity of the country through the enhancement and use of this heritage, now mostly abandoned and forgotten. The goal of the research sees the rural heritage regain lost importance, image, value and identity, playing a decisive role in the reappropriation of an awareness of knowledge through the support of digital technologies and the involvement of micro and small Made in Italy companies, towards a conscious use in a circular economy. The research will allow for the development of innovative strategies, tools and approaches or the implementation of existing strategies to improve them. It will be necessary to verify the effectiveness of communication and prior knowledge in order to make the interventions valid in the light of an increasing supply and a potentially wider audience. Support with local administrations, such as the Superintendence for Architectural and Landscape Heritage of Basilicata, will allow to validate the methodological process for the different levels of knowledge obtained by the research, implementing the management tools and models of ICCD (Central Institute for Catalogue and Documentation). The research also aims to promote actions aimed at the sustainability and durability of interventions through a process of digitization and virtual management of the rural heritage, encouraging the enhancement of the same areas, launching a new life style in order to rebalance city-country relations, also through the use of digital technologies and prototyping devices, to transfer architectural “fragments and moments” from the remote past to a necessary future.
