The paper analyses the diplomatic and commercial agreements signed between Naples and Stockholm in the second half of the 18th century, both during the Regency period and the reign of Ferdinand IV. In particular, the essay examines both the diplomatic negotiations of the Spanish plenipotentiary Sebastián de Llano y de la Cuadra (Charles III’s envoy extraordinaire to the Swedish Court for Neapolitan affairs), those of Gustav III’s grand chamberlain, baron Fredrick Wilhelm Ridderstolpe, and those of Joseph de Maas (Spanish chargé d’affaires in Stockholm) to secure cannons and wood for naval construction for the Kingdom of Naples. The aim was to strengthen the defensive system and provide the entire Kingdom of Naples with the necessary equipment for its defense.
