This paper examines some uses of the term μῦθος in known and lesser-known significant contexts from its first occurrences up to the works of Aristotle. Our aim is to identify the semantic contents of μῦθος and underline traits of continuity and discontinuity, in order to verify if actually, as has been argued, μῦθος meant for the ancient Greeks something that never coincided with what currently goes by the name of myth.

Abstract
This paper examines some uses of the term μῦθος in known and lesser-known significant contexts from its first occurrences up to the works of Aristotle. Our aim is to identify the semantic contents of μῦθος and underline traits of continuity and discontinuity, in order to verify if actually, as has been argued, μῦθος meant for the ancient Greeks something that never coincided with what currently goes by the name of myth.File in questo prodotto:
