Giovanni Morrone, Max Weber and the Question of Culture The essay illustrates on the one hand the lines of continuity of Weber’s methodological reflection with respect to the Neo-Kantian conception of method, and on the other hand the clear differences between Weber’s conception of culture and the Neo-Kantian philosophy of values. For Weber, cultural values cannot be coordinated in a value system, but inevitably converge in a fluid structure of conflicting points of view, which he reconstructs on the background of his studies on the sociology of religion. The outcome is a reflection on the “meaning of culture”, which allows a critical view at the whole Weberian thought.
