The main aim of the present chapter is to provide an exhaustive theoretical framework of the industrial tourism phenomenon, deepening its various definitions and manifestations. At the same time, we discuss some best practices and experiences of industrial tourism in Italy, providing data on its real impact in terms of visitors. The final aim is to shed light on the real potentialities of industrial tourism for promoting cultural tourism sustainable development. A broad definition of industrial tourism is adopted in this chapter, including three different forms and typologies of attractors: industrial archaeology, corporate museums, and factory tours. The study focuses on Italy, where, compared to the pioneering European countries, only more recently this phenomenon emerged.
