In particular, he kept close ties with some of the most distinguished representatives of the German Altertumswissenschaft and his collaboration with institutions such as the Instituto di Corrispondenza Archeologica and the Prussian Academy of Sciences was especially fruitful. An inquiry among documents and correspondence mostly unpublished will make it possible to further explore some aspects of de Rossi’s relationship with his “amici tedeschi” and to highlight the value and international scope of his activity
