Abstract

The paper analyzes the studies on bioanthropological investigations of the etiology of crime from phrenology to artificial intelligence. The goal is to demonstrate how the attention of some scholars has been aimed at seeking “visible” causes that could lead people to commit a crime. From the conformation of the skull to the identification of the Lombrosian stigmata and thus proceeding, the author highlights the most recent studies in the field of neuroscience and then dwells on the today's role of artificial intelligence, a system typical of society 5.0, which is used both as a tool for crime and as a means of identifying potential criminals.
