The epigram Ἠράσθης πλουτῶν, Σωσίκρατες, which is attributed to Marcus Argentarius in the Anthologia Palatina (V 113), is wrongly assigned to Philodemus in the Planudea. This paper traces the history of the epigram, focusing in particular on an eighteenth-century translation made by two Venetian intellectuals and included in a book of epigrams offered as a wedding gift.
