Introduction to the philosophy of culture. The philosophy of culture is a young discipline. The task of a handbook on the philosophy of culture therefore has to be first to collect the various approaches and initiatives in order to show what is their profile and their common ground. The present article, which introduced the Handbuch Kulturphilosophie in 2012, outlines the emergence of a cultural-philosophical thinking in Europe and highlights some crucial systematic questions that arise today.
