The paper deals with the theme of the 'other city' by examining the Vele of Scampia, an intervention of economic and popular construction in the northern suburbs of Naples, today a media icon of isolation and unease on which public opinion is divided in favor or against killing. Therefore, the conceptual assumptions of the original project design, the reasons for the failure and the socio-artistic interventions, which redeem the Vele as a resource for the common good, are examined here.
Il contributo affronta il tema della ‘città altra’ esaminando le Vele di Scampia, un intervento di edilizia economica e popolare alla periferia nord di Napoli, oggi icona mediatica di isolamento e disagio su cui l’opinione pubblica si divide a favore o contro l’abbattimento. Pertanto, vengono qui esaminati i presupposti concettuali dell’originario disegno di progetto, le ragioni del fallimento e gli interventi socio-artistici, che riscattano le Vele come risorsa per il bene comune.
