Within the constitutional orders of contemporary multicultural States, linguistic diversity represents one of the key-factors in state-building choices, requiring specific public policies and constitutional adjustments. Comparative lawyers have to deal with such issues, fostering the adoption of new methodological approaches. According to these assumptions, the chapter analyses the expansion of language rights in reference to the Indian constitutional scheme, underlining the pivotal role that minority languages plays in reference to the Indian asymmetrical federalism.
