The paper illustrates the performance criteria of a passive solar system of the solar chimney type, in relation also to other technological systems of the type: trombone wall and solar roofs. In particular, it is intended to analyse the use of the solar chimney integrated in new or existing buildings (as a retrofit intervention), for natural ventilation and therefore to guarantee an adequate air exchange inside a confined environment for IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) purposes and for passive cooling, defining the sizing characteristics and the requirements of the components.
