Chapter VII aims at analysing some aspects of the verb morphology and morpho-syntax of the documents. The selected phenomena show different patterns of morphological variation and change and the balance between innovative and conservative trends. Innovations affecting the system as a whole, such as the adoption of periphrastic future, tend to be avoided. Nevertheless, in more specific domains, the analysis shows the occurrence of morphological forms, sometimes similar to Romance outcomes. In some cases variants are found that need to be interpreted also on the basis of extra-linguistic factors.
