This paper explores the controversial cultural and personal relationship between Vincenzo Monti and the Tuscan polygraph Giovanni Rosini through the annotated edition of three unpublished letters of 1803, 1807 and (probably) 1817-1818. Particular attention is dedicated to the literary debate which was related to the updated reception/translation of Homer’s "Iliad" in Italy between the end of eighteenth century and the beginning of nineteenth century.
