During the sixteenth century, Federico Commandino was drawn to the attention of the scientific and cultural community for his role as an erudite scholar, as well as his contributions to the disciplines of Mechanics and Descriptive Geometry. To Commandino can be attributed important Latin translations of Greek texts as well as the furthering of scientific knowledge on determination of the centre of gravity and the concept of perspective.
