Spectral-domain Optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is becoming one of the most important modalities for the noninvasive assessment of retinal eye diseases. As the number of acquired SD-OCT volumes increases, automating the SD-OCT image analysis is becoming increasingly relevant. This study aimed to assess the reproducibility of an automatic algorithm to quantify the macular atrophy area in patients with Juvenile Macular Degeneration.Fifteen patients (30 eyes) suffering from Juvenile Macular Degeneration underwent two SD-OCT scanning in two different visits (baseline and 1-week follow-up). En-face SD-OCT analysis was performed to quantify the area of macular atrophy by using an automated algorithm. Reproducibility for the macular atrophy area were calculated by the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC).The reproducibility, as assessed with the ICC, was excellent on both the original area scale (ICC > 0.98) and on the square-root scale (ICC>0.97). There was no significant difference between scans acquired during the two visits. This study confirms that SD-OCT fundus images can be used to reproducibly quantitate areas of macular atrophy area in patients with Juvenile Macular Degeneration.

Abstract
This study confirms that SD-OCT fundus images can be used to reproducibly quantitate areas of macular atrophy area in patients with Juvenile Macular Degeneration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
