Abstract

The study of the morphology of the place and architectures, the territorial design and its changes in the case of the area of Pompei proved really complex, as the historiographical tradition has often transmitted a history of the places merely buit on the myth of the Roman town, which has consequently influenced the following philological restaurations. The present stories underline that over time we have lost the “memory” of the right topographic position of the ancient cartography, in order to rebuilt the complexity and the lost identity of a land, and to go along the phases of a denied history which has been buried under the ashes of the myth of Rome.
